Boondock Saints 2 Has Begun Filming!

Posted in 1 with tags , on October 29, 2008 by Erick

Well… This has to be the hap hap happiest news of the day, and week thus.  Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day has begun filming in Toronto.  I’m curious as to whether it’ll go straight to DVD or will be in the theaters.  I could only hope it shows up in the theaters.  Thanks to geeksofdoom for the riveting news, you can also check out some video at the site:

After the long, long decade of rumors, combined with many refusals to believe it was true, as well as my consistent coverage of this project all year, the massively desired sequel Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day has officially begun filming in Toronto.

Take that naysayers!

As a big fan of the original flick, I’m happy to see actual filming taking place and it’s very good to see Sean Patrick Flanery eating some food and being silly. At the same time, though, I’m still pretty antsy to see some images and footage of familiar faces back in action.

As I’ve previously reported, Sean Patrick Flanery www.seanflanery.com and Norman Reedus (www.normanreedusonline.com) are returning for this film as the McManus brothers. Billy Connolly, David Della Rocco, and Brian Mahoney will also reprise their roles, while Aaron Berg has joined the cast as JoJo Rhama as has Clifton Collins Jr. as a new character.

Below are a couple new production diaries to check out.

On a side note, director Troy Duffy and crew are also doing a little contest where you can win some sweet gold and a trip to the land of Tim Hortons for a small role in the flick. Check out this link for info and watch the video below to get in and see the goods. A very, very cool contest.

I will have a boner until I see this movie… Starting… Now!!! oh baby!

The Hulk Not A Villain In The Avengers Movie

Posted in 1 with tags , on October 29, 2008 by Erick

Hulk will not be the villain in The Avengers movie.  Oh praise the heavenly movie people!  I thought it was a bad idea to do that, and I would much rather see them all work together, it would pay supreme homage to the entire universe.  I read a couple months ago, that Ed Norton would not be returning as The Hulk.  I wonder who will take his position?  Do you think Eric Banana could do it (Bana, from Ang Lee’s Hulk).  Anyway, here’s the news via themovieblog:

THE AVENGERS will bring together the super hero team of Marvel Comics characters for the first time ever, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk and more, as they are forced to band together to battle the biggest foe they’ve ever faced.

Yo, I’m very happy to hear this.  Reigners, are you just as joygasmed as I about this news?

Don Cheadle Confirmed For Iron Man 2

Posted in 1 with tags , , on October 28, 2008 by Erick

Can’t you see War Machine in a cowboy hat? hmmm?

Yo yo yo!!! So, we get some more news about the whole Terrence Howard and Don Cheadle switcharooooo!  Thanks to themovieblog for the heads up on this little gemmy:

“We are very excited about working with the extraordinarily talented Don Cheadle as we expand the role of Rhodey in Iron Man 2. It has already become apparent as we prep the movie for production, that the dynamic between Robert and Don will take Iron Man 2 to new heights,” said Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.

I have to say that I was surprised when I heard Howard was getting replaced with Cheadle.  I thought Terrence did extremely well as Rhodes.  But, I gotta say, Don is a great choice to go with this time around.  Problem with cast switches is it kind of causes the entire continuity of the series to be washed away a bit.  Now, it doesn’t ruin the series but I think some people get a bit taken aback by cast outs and cast ins.  I.E. The scientology babymaker switched with Maggie Gylenhallalal in the recent Dark Knight film.  I liked Maggie much better than I like whats her face, and in that instance it worked well.  I can give some other examples when it worked and didn’t work but… That would be wasting my breath.  Needless to say, I’m happy about this news… Who would have been better?……………………. mmm….Skyscraper…I love you

Well… This sounds like fun.  I hate heights, and I think I picked that phobia up from a MacGyver episode where he’s hanging from a gondola above a ravenous rock cliff.  Nevertheless, I love disaster flicks.  To this day, "Twister" stands as one of my favorite disaster flicks of all time.  But, this isn’t a disaster flick so much as it is just a falling building flick… We all know those.  Thanks to mania for the heads up:

There’s nothing like borrowing the same ideas as previous disaster formulas but not actually calling it a remake. Mike Sobel’s disaster-action pitch Skyscraper has been preemptively bought by Universal Pictures while Neal Moritz is producing via his Original Film shingle. Sobel, a former New York lawyer who moved to Hollywood last year to pursue a writing career, also had his first screenplay taken on by Moritz’s OF productions. Original’s Tania Landau is executive producing.

Plot Concept: The project is described as a modern-day Towering Inferno, in which a Donald Trump-esque developer sets out to build a mile-high structure in Chicago. When the tower starts to falter, a crew must rescue the city from mayhem

mmm…skyscraper… I love you

KCC – Who To Play Captain America?

Posted in 1 with tags on October 28, 2008 by K~man

So Kids of Movie Wonderland I return to you with a true story of love, romance, action, adventure and dental hygiene. This my friends is a true story of how my latest dental visit crossed paths with the First Avenger: Captain America

So I had to have two cavities filled yesterday, which unto itself isn’t a spectacular way to spend a beautiful afternoon but you gotta take care of the chompers. As my dentist, Dr. Bill, began to apply entirely too much novacaine to my face he began the normal banter that dentists engage in. As my procedure went along he arrived at movies as a topic and he stated to the nurse how much he liked the Iron Man and the Hulk. He said he preferred Irom Man to the Hulk, to which I grunted my approval. On a side note, why do dentists always ask you questions that they know you can’t answer when you have a face full of tubes, cotton swabs and dental equipment along with a numb jaw?

Anyway…  he then got onto the topic of Captain America and who might play the lead role. He joked about Tobey or Brad, Clooney and others. This then got me thinking, who do you want to see play the man with the shield? Give me some ideas and maybe we can have a poll next week? Till then kids I remind you that Friday night when you come home with your sack of candy to brush up lest you have to get stabbed in the face with a needle by Dr. Bill.

Best Third Installment To A Franchise Poll

Posted in 1 on October 27, 2008 by Erick

So, I posted Chris Nolan talking about Batman 3, which got me thinking.  What do you think is the best movie from this list as a third installment?  Add your own if you like as well.

We’re going to have daily, or weekly polls and the winners of the polls will be posted in their own page.

Nolan Finally Talks Batman 3

Posted in 1 with tags , , , , on October 27, 2008 by Erick

So, here’s some real news from the man himself Christopher Nolan regarding Batman 3.  Thanks for the jelly button you ropeofsilicone soldiers!

Well … let me think how to put this. There are two things to be said. One is the emphasis on story. What’s the story? Is there a story that’s going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That’s the overriding question. On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? [Laughs.] At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there haven’t been too many of those either. It’s all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible. I hope that was a suitably slippery answer.

As much as it saddens me, I do agree with Nolan bones.  There aren’t many third entries into franchises that rock out with socks out.  I could probably name a couple that wouldn’t exceed the number of fingers I have on my hand.  Let’s try it though:

1) Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi

2)ummmm

3) Ernest Scares Stupid (don’t know what actual number that was)

You get the idea.  They’re aren’t a lot.  Add to that, he’s right, if there is an amazing story, the movie will perform just as good as TDK did if not better.  The worst thing that could happen is if studios try and rush the third installment, and this piece of shit poops on our face in the theater, then it’ll go down in history as the worst series ever.  Other way around, best ever!

Do you agree with Nolan?

Gran Torino Trailer

Posted in 1 with tags , on October 27, 2008 by Erick

Last week, I put up the official poster to “Gran Torino”, Clint Eastwood’s new flick.  Now, I haven’t much liked his past couple of movies, and I think that “Changeling” will be added to the ones that I don’t particularly like.  “Million Dollar Baby” and “Changeling” just aren’t my types of movies(I’m not saying there not awesome movies, just not my type of film).  Which brings me to “Gran Torino”.  Now, I add the trailer to this movie which looks FUCKING AWESOME!!!  Dude, this is a geriatric version of Dirty Harry and pays subtle homage to Clint’s former movie career.  Check out the trailer, and let me know what you think below:

Watching ole Clinto pull out the finger gun at least twice in the trailer is awesome!  I’m definately going to do that next time I get mad at a passerby!

While She Was Out Red Band Trailer

Posted in 1 with tags , on October 27, 2008 by Erick

I really only like Kim Basinger when she’s naked and having sex on screen… She’s good at that!  Everything else… lololol.  I’m putting this trailer up, not because it looks awesome(because it actually looks like donkey poo) but because sometimes, it’s nice to laugh at such fiction like this.  It looks like a mix between The Brave one(Jodie Foster) and The Long Kiss Goodnight(Geena Davis(actually very good movie)).  Check it out, thanks to themovieblog for the heads up:

It should have been titled “While She Was Horny” rated R… and she plays a cougar that takes out a gang of hooligans through sexual intercourse…. MMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gem Of The Week

Posted in 1 on October 26, 2008 by Starsky & Hutch

Greetings Movie Lovers,

We’re new to this posting stuff, but we would like to introduce ourselves to the internet world. As movie fans for most of our lives, my collegue and I feel the time has come to put in our own 2 cents about what is considered a “good flick” or a “piece of shite“. We hear critics slamming movies that are “classics” and slobbing over movies that are terrible.

Pause….what we mean by “we”….When you see this name – Starsky & Hutch – posting it is either going to be Starsky (Bobby Mack) or Hutch (B) or the both of us. Most of the time it will be a tandom blog but sometimes work (yes, we do have jobs) or the girl-friend (Hutch has one, Starsky has a palm) will have an influence.

That being said, we now are pleased to introduce the “Gem of the Week”, our weekly praise to a movie that has either been panned by the arrogant, sponser-controlled, opinion of the averge critic, or just happend to fly under the radar while in theatres.

A couple of years ago, Colin Ferrell (still hobbling around from the hangover of Alexander) teamed up with Brendan Gleason to film a small, we can call it “Indie”, picture called “In Brugges”. Fucking Awesome. Believe it or not, Colin Farrell is a decent actor. Many have forgotten the good he has done (Tigerland, Minority Report) because the bad (Daredevil, the aforementioned Alexander and American Outlaws) , has greatly overshadowed the Irish bloke’s promise. Team Farrell with a good actor (Gleeson) and a foul-mouthed Ralph Fiennes and you got yourself a fucking winner (you’ll understand the swearing after watching the clip below).
