Red Band Trailer: Role Model

Posted in 1 with tags on September 16, 2008 by Erick

I really like the Appatow crew.  You know… The gang who brought us 40 year old virgin, superbad, pineapple express, knocked up… A lot of the new hits.  This looks to be good.  Here’s the red band trailer for Role Model with a special high five to themovieblog for the heads up:

I don’t know about the whole “big brother” thing going on, but by the looks of the kids playing the roles I’m sure it’ll work out just fine.  The “after I fucked your mother” comment at the beginning of the preview made me spit my beer out onto my laptop screen (sad face (Natty Ice Fowty)).  I dig the preview and TASTE THE BEAST!!!

XXX 3 In The Works

Posted in 1 with tags , on September 15, 2008 by Erick

Well good to be back to you all.  I’ve missed thee.  Let’s open the sweent news gates once again with this little snappy inset(?) thanks to ma ma ma ma maniiiaaa:

Columbia Pictures is in talks with producer Joe Roth for a new/third version of XXX, one that would bring back Vin Diesel as star and Rob Cohen as the director.

In the original, Vin Diesel starred as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast who gets drafted by the government for a dangerous mission. For the sequel, XXX: STATE OF THE UNION, Ice Cube took the lead role and Lee Tamahori directed.

This third installment is tenatively titled XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE.  Columbia currently does not have a script though.

Diesel has agreed to return and so has Cohen, but their deals won’t be worked out until a studio pact is made with Joe Roth’s Revolution Studios, who controls the rights to the property.

Cohen most recently directed THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, while Diesel starred in BABYLON A.D.

Oh happy times for the Diesel man.  You know… I own a pair of Diesels (shoes) and although that has nothing to do with Mr. Diesel himself… I just don’t know what to say about this.  I thought the first XXX was fuckin horrible and wish both Cohen HP.  Nevertheless, when little gems float to the desks of peeps these days, they jump at the opportunity to make movies in which the hero jumps big barns with dirtbikes.  Well, I hope all is well in the land of burnt out action stars.  I thought Babylon AD was horrible, and Vin’s chest hair was the only redeeming quality to the movie.  If they give Diesel a mullet in the third X installment, perhaps that can find a redeeming quality as well.  Thank you and I love you.

HAHA:  Imagine what pops up when you type in XXX in google images… Not Vin Diesel!!!

Depp And Hoffman Really Riddler And Penguin?

Posted in 1 on September 9, 2008 by Erick

Mania  supplies us with this sweet info regarding B3, or Batman 3, or just Batman, or The Dark Knights, or Riddlers Roundup.

A while back rumors were set out to scurry the lands of tabloid celebration including such terms as Philip Seymour Depp and Johnny Hoffman or the other way around I shall sayeth to thee my brethren.  Seems as though Mr. Caine-o has made these rumors soemewhat true?  Here’s the dirt nasty like it was 1980:

“They’ve already got them in mind,” said Caine, when asked who he’d like to see take up arms against the Caped Crusader. “It’s Johnny Depp as The Riddler. And The Penguin is Philip Seymour Hoffman. I read it in the paper.”

So Caine is like the rest of us, reading gossip in the tabloids, right? Except for one thing…according to the actor, he confirmed the news through the studio itself.

“When Christopher [Nolan] said we were going to do ‘The Dark Knight’ next, I didn’t what that meant in Batman terms,” related Caine, who plays Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth. “I said, ‘What’s the story?’ and he said The Joker. I said, ‘Oh, s–t! How are you going to top Jack [Nicholson]?’ He said, ‘Well, I’ve cast Heath Ledger. And I went ‘Ha! I couldn’t top Jack, but if anyone could, maybe Heath could.’ And he did.

So my sons and daughters, what do you think?  Hoffman as penguin? I could see it.  I’ll get a lot of flack for this comment, but, not a big fan of Depp.  Why?  I couldn’t tell you why to be completely honest with you, just something about him.  So we’ll have to see what comes of this.  I’m still hoping for Crispin Glover, or Danny Glover as The Riddler.  Is he too old for this shit though?

You know who should play The Riddler?  …. This guy:

Want To Be A Contributor To This Site?

Posted in 1 on September 4, 2008 by Erick

Gang, news from moviereign land:

I’m transparent in every manner when it comes to the present and future of moviereign.com.  What do I mean?  I mean that whenever changes are made etc… I let all of the readers know.  And I do this for a couple reasons.  One of the BIGGEST reasons is that I enjoy and take in mind the input from the fans in order to make the best decisions for this site and you guys.  A big problem I have with movie studios, producers, and we’ll throw companies in there as well is that they make decisions “thinking” it’s what the fans want, but really most of the time it’s for their own success.  Movies are made, and when they are released, fans sit in the theater and go “what the shit is this!”, same with companies.  You may frequent a certain website, or store and one day you return and either it’s not there, or it’s not what you’re used to seeing.  I’m a huge fan of change, I think change is necessary when it comes to the looks of an organization, and method of operations.  So, to be transparent for me, would be to include all of you on decisions I make regarding this website, and the others that are in the works (trust me, fun things are on the horizon).

So to get right to the point I bring to you an idea I’ve been tossing around in my head.

This is how it stands right now:

I thouroughly enjoy the involvement from the readers.  One of the first things I look for when I log onto the site to update is comments that people leave in a post.  I would like to add to that a bit more.  What do I mean?  There aren’t many, if any movie blogs out there that allow the readers to be the contributors (There are a ton of great movie blogs though).  I started this site because I enjoy giving my opinion about the things that interest me, and movies is one of those big things that wet my pallette.  Yes, I enjoy giving my opinion, but what I’ve found since the launch of this site is that I totally love reading posts from my current regular contributors like Mike, Kevin, and Matt which made me start thinking.  What if the regular visitors of this site were the contributors, along with me and the rest of the gang here at moviereign?  And it completely excited me just thinking about the possibilities.

The Plan:  So, here’s how it’s going to go down.  Starting RIGHT NOW if you are interested in becoming a contributor to this site LET ME KNOW.  I’ll get you setup as a user and a contributor and allow you to go to town posting news, reviews, and opinions til your heart is content.  I’m still going to post news as much as I do now.  But if you would like to be a part of this you’re more than welcome to.  As you know, I don’t post about every bit of news that surfaces, and I don’t for a couple of reasons.  One, it either doesn’t interest me enough to write about it, and damned if I fake enthusiasm for something.  Second, I sometimes just don’t make the time to do it.  Believe it or not, it takes anywhere between 15-30 minutes for one post.  How?  If you take the time to read the movie news (which I do) and then take the time to write your opinion, link up to the sites that sourced the news, find pictures, title it, tag it, edit (which I falter on regularly), it takes a while.  So I just don’t have the time, after getting home from work and spending time with the lovely lady, eating, exercising and staring at the wall to post everything.  Also, I’m not a fan of some genres.  Example includes Indie flicks.  Independent film for the most part does not interest me in the least bit.  I understand that some of you are interested in hearing news in the indie department.  Point is… go to town, get involved, talk about movies.

Instead of just doing this without warning I wanted to bring it up to you guys, if it’s something that interests you send me an email at erockasire@yahoo.com.  I’ll respond and send you the directions to get linked up to the site.  If you don’t want to contribute, that’s absolutely fine, just sit back, relax and read what others have to say.  It doesn’t matter if there are three contributors to this site or 3000, it’s going to be a real community movie blog.

In a nutshell, blog about movies that interest you, your own movie stories, movie topics, etc…  And comment on others.  Be part of a real movie blog community.

Gang, email me your thoughts, or comment below and let me know.

Thank you,

Erick Fish

Two-Face Is Dead!

Posted in 1 on September 4, 2008 by Erick

Well, I gotta say that I have been up in the air about it, and I’ve written about how there was too much two-face in TDK to bring him back again.  Here’s the news "tanks" to the movie blog :

Beaks: And now the obligatory question: can you conceive of any way in which you might be back in–

Aaron Eckhart: (Laughs) No.

Beaks: Not a chance?

Eckhart: No. I’m dead. I couldn’t even get the words out of my mouth. “Hey, Chris, am I–?” “No. You’re dead. You’re dead.”

I know there were people out there saying it’s impossible that he’s dead, impossible he’s alive.  Which one was it?  Thanks to the sweet art of technology mixed with interviews we finally get word that Two-Face is no more in the Nolan franchise and we can now move on to even more speculation as to who the next villain will be.

Reigners – How do you feel about Two-Face being dead officially?  Does it surprise you?

TMNT Reboot?

Posted in 1 on September 3, 2008 by Erick

I would poop myself if this ever came to fruition.  Literally poop myself, and if they got the original director back, Corey Feldman, Elias Koteas, and that hot broad that played April (dreamy she was),  I would pee myself.  Now down to the grits, those warm buttery sloppy southerny grits thanks to Jorge over at latino review :

Someone clever asked Kevin Eastman about a possible live action Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles movie. Here is part of Kevin’s answer:

Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc…there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original “first” TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right–but no official word yet…will keep you posted. Best, Kevin

You know, every now and then some news comes along and totally takes me by surprise.  I love reading stuff like this.  First the possibility of a love action Ghostbusters, now this.  If this news goes any further, then Christmas will have come early my children.

Reignergangeroos:  Would you be interested in a TMNT reboot?

One more point, anyone think it’s funny that they are calling these remakes “reboots” and happening so quickly no less.  Hulk was made by Ang Lee, nobody liked it ergo The new one was created, “rebooted”.  TMNT is in the works, Punisher.  List is large, any thoughts my friends?

Gang, I still have no idea what to think about this movie yet.  The pictures look a bit cheesy to me and I hope it doesn’t end up being campy.  I don’t know how easy it is to transfer Dragonball Z onto the big screen and not mess it up.  It’s starting to look more and more like Speed Racer to me.  What do you guys think about what you’ve seen thus.

DVD Reignview: Street Kings – YAY

Posted in 1 on September 2, 2008 by Erick

Plot: Tom Ludlow is a veteran LAPD cop who finds life difficult to navigate after the death of his wife. When evidence implicates him in the execution of a fellow officer, he is forced to go up against the cop culture he’s been a part of his entire career, ultimately leading him to question the loyalties of everyone around him.

One of my favorite things to do when there is nothing happening on the weekends is rent like three movies and watch the shit out of them til the wee hours of the morning.  I haven’t had that opportunity as I’ve been incredibly busy lately.  Sunday night was going to be that night but I was talked into going to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Hartford that night and wasn’t able to do so.  I was drunk, and when I returned home I felt sick, I was going to make homemade pizza and such and relax, what did happen you ask?  I put a sweatshirt on and shivered myself to sleep on the couch.  Therefore last night (monday (labor day ( September 1))) was my movie night, although it wasn’t really an intense one as I had to work today.  It was still nice to cozy up with the AC on and my homemade pizza and Chimmay Blue.

Street kings rocked my world.  Intense gun fire and blood.  To my understanding, this movie didn’t really do well in the theaters which surprised me.  It definately had the tone of success.  First I must say that Hugh Laurie is a rock and roll show and I would love to see him in more shit.  The first scene he was in was playing a “House” like character and it totally worked.  It could have been that moment where you were like “holy hell don’t abuse me/lame” but they did it well.  I don’t know why nobody likes Keaunu Reeves, yes he’s the same character in every movie but if you miss Point Break, check out this flick.  Reeves makes one hell of a movie cop I must say and he is constantly pounding little vodka nips throughout the entire movie.  If this movie had Pat Swayze it could totally be called PB2 on the side.  But it didn’t, instead it had Forest Whitaker who runs the world in every movie.  There are points in the this “flim” (Chris it’s meant that way lol) that you’re like… WTF is going to happen next mate!  And it does happen next, and what is it that happens next… Awesomeness.  Chris Evans is so damned dreamy in everything he’s in and works well in this.  I would not have been disappointed to see this in the theater.

DVD rating:  If I had a system of rating DVDs and I don’t I would rate this as a rental an 8 out of 10 in the friday movie fuck flick section.

Reigngangers – Reminder:  I talk about movies like we’re face to face, therefore if I’m not throrough in my review talking about every aspect you know why. I love you
