Kevin’s Cozy Corner: Hollywood Gone Green…What’s Next?
Grab a flask of milk and a plate of cookies and join me round the lazy boy for this installment of KCC: Hollywood Gone Green…what’s next?
So I was thinking the other day about the earth. You see, it is now hip and fashionable to be green. Recycling, reducing, reusing, you know, in general being all hippy nice to the planet. When suddenly I realized that Hollywood has gone green too, as a matter of fact they are at the forefront of recycling. We are currently in the dual age of comic book movies (reusing story lines from comic as source material) and of remakes (recycling popular movies from previous generations). Or in the case of Warner Brothers, both reusing and recycling comic books and past hits. I.e. Batman and Superman. All this pondering got me to really think about what is next for Hollywood, we in America have been through a lot and our movies have reflected our history. We have seen the days of the spaghetti western and the WWII flicks, the teeny bopper adventures of the eighties, the rebellious psychedelic drug flicks of the sixties and seventies. So what is next for Hollywood, when all the good comics have been made into movies (and the not so good ones…eh hem…Electra) and all the sequels to classics have been done (Star Wars and Indiana Jones) and there are no more great movies to remake, what will Hollywood do?
Where will they go for content or source material, what will be the next great Genre of movies. Space? Technology? Emotions? Social Issues? Have our tastes widened too much to care? Do we want originality or do we just want entertainment no matter how it is fed to us or what it is made from. So girls and geeks, nerds and nerdets, what will be next? Do you have the answer?
